"Bear with Tulip" Bildmalarna

Hi everyone:

My name is Lydia Morrison and I'm thrilled to have been invited to come aboard the Bildmalarna Design Team. For my debut blog post, I post my submission for the 1st BildmalarnaStampersBlog Design Challenge - BildiSketch001.

My interpretation of the design features the adorable Bildmalarna "Bear with Tulip" stamp available at http://www.onecrazystamper.com/. The moment I set my eyes on this darling little fellow I had an instant vision for the layout in this challenge and below is the result.

The patterned papered is Basic Grey (Porcelain - Hampton), distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink and with some dots glittered using Ranger Stickles (Gold).

The teddy bear is flocked with Doodlebug Crushed Velvet Flock (Bon Bon) enhancing the warm fuzzy feeling of the image. This flocked image would be great on a bookmark. On a bookmark it would invoke memories of flannel jammies and snuggling with cuddly teddies when gently rubbed between fingers while reading. . . guaranteed stress reliever!

Like Wilhemina, I too favour watercolours and used them on this card. I coloured the bear image in brown matching the flock before applying it because the white paper would otherwise show through the flock. To prevent smearing of the paint I dabbed, not rubbed, the glue for flocking.

I stamped, coloured and flocked the image three times so I could paper-piece it together on the card giving it the ultimate 3D effect.

Take a look at the closeup for example:
If you would like to paper-piece this image too, the duplicates are required. Since there are only a few elements in this image just three layers are needed.
  1. The first base layer is the whole image stamped directly onto paper mat previously die cut.
  2. For the second layer, cut out from a duplicate: the whole bloom of the tulip; the bear's head and left ear (excluding the right ear and snout); both legs and the tail. Use Foam Dimensionals to adhere each cutout over its corresponding image on the first base layer.
  3. Cut out from the other duplicate: the bear's front leg and tulip's centre petal. Repeat using the Foam Dimensionals to adhere these cutouts onto the second layer forming the third layer .

The bear paw embellishments were pieced together using various sizes of punched circles and distressed with the same distress ink as above.

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed putting this card together and sharing it with you and look forward to viewing your creative submissions too.

Till next time,

Mimosa with Tulips

Hi All:

Welcome to BildmalarnaStampersBlog my name is Wilhelmina Wilson & I have joined Lora and the other Design Team members here to showcase all our creations with Bildmalarna stamps.

In my first post I am using Mimosa with Tulips. Mimosa was watercoloured using waterbase inks with Black Staz On ink. I used American Craft textured Moss cardstock for the base, American Craft textured Dandelion for one of the mats & black for the other mat. A added a little bit of distressing with a waterbase ink pad, some Prima flowers & Doodlebug brads to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting, I will be back tomorrow with another version of Mimosa with Tulips.

Have a great day!

Mimo with Roses

I always struggle with boy type cards..I'm sure others do too..or at least I hope I'm not the only one. When I say this stamp I had an idea pop into my head right away...and this card was the result.

I went way out of the box with the patterned paper, I used Kaiser Kraft "Ebony & Ivory" (P176 Penelope & P178 Isabel). I was aiming for something masculine but yet not too girly either. I added some Kaiser Craft Midnight Pears, Midnight & Gray Flowers as well. I used Spellbinders dies to cut out the mats & I coloured Mimo with Copics:

Hat & Pants: B91, B93, B97
Shirt & Shoes: C1, C3, C5
Skin: E000, E01, E00 & R20 for the cheeks
Roses: BV11, Bv13, BV17
Leaves & Stems: G20, G21, G24
Hair: E31, E33, E35, E37

Mimo is stamped with Tsukineko Momento Tuxedo Black on Prism Simply Smooth Ivory cardstock.

Bildmalarna - Mimosa on the Fence

This is Mimosa on the Fence from Bildmalarna of course! Lot's of Copic markers on this card, pic is below..there are just so many!

I used American Craft textured cardstock (Clay) with Bo Bunny Double Dot patterned paper (Chiffon & Chocolate). I used the new Prima flowers on this card & sprayed them with the air compressor so they match the stamped flowers and leaves. I also used Gunmetal & Crystal Stickles for some glitter! I also sprayed the Kaiser Craft pearls to match.
